'Vettaiyan' box office collection day 7: Rajinikanth-Amitabh starrer crosses Rs 118 crore in first week

Rajinikanth-Amitabh Bachchan's latest film, 'Vettaiyan' was released on October 10, 2024, and has completed seven days run at the box office. Since its release the investigative thriller has made a truckload of earnings and has been encountering some dip in the numbers as the days progress.
As per trade analyst Sacnilk, the film made over an estimated Rs 4.15 crore on Wednesday completing its week with an approximate total of Rs 118.80 crore in all languages in India.
The film had a phenomenal start, grossing Rs 31.7 crore on its opening day, followed by Rs 24 crore on Friday, Rs 26.75 crore on Saturday, and Rs 22.3 crore on Sunday. However, the numbers dipped significantly during the weekdays, with collections of Rs 5.6 crore on Monday and Rs 4.3 crore on Tuesday.
Vettaiyan Movie Review
The difference in earnings is evident when comparing weekend and weekday performances. The occupancy rates also reflect this trend: on Wednesday, October 16, 'Vettaiyan' recorded an overall 19.34% Tamil occupancy, with morning shows at 14.14%, afternoon shows at 22.06%, evening shows at 21.81%, and notably low night shows. It also had an overall occupancy of 14.00% in Telugu.

Directed by TJ Gnanavel, 'Vettaiyan' tells the story of a government school teacher who uncovers a drug trade and reports it to the police. This leads to an investigation by an honest officer known for his unconventional methods, revealing hidden truths about the crime world.
The film has reportedly collected more than Rs 260 crore at the global box office.
The film also features Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Dushara Vijayan, and Ritika Singh in key roles.
