Telangana Elections 2024 Phase 4 Live Updates: 61.54% voter turnout recorded

Telangana Elections 2024 Live Updates: Telangana recorded an approximate voter turnout of 61.54% on Monday as polling was underway for 17 Lok Sabha seats in the state, according to an Election Commission app. Polling which began at 7 am will end by 6 pm, barring at a few places where it will conclude two hours earlier.
No law and order problems had been reported till around noon, state Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj said.

He said the voter turnout is higher by three-four per cent compared to the polling percentage reported till around 1 pm in the last Legislative Assembly elections.

"We are hoping that our poll percentages will be quite good compared to 2019 Parliament elections," he said.

He said an enquiry is going on into some complaints that have been received.

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi is seeking re-election from the party's bastion of Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency and the BJP has fielded a political novice but enthusiastic K Madhavi Latha who has begun a spirited campaign. Stay with TOI for the latest developments:

Telangana Elections 2024: 40.38% Voter turnout recorded till 1 pm

As the voting for the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha election is underway in 96 constituencies across nine states and one Union Territory, a voter turnout of 40.32 per cent was reported by 1 pm.

According to the data issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI), West Bengal recorded the highest voter turnout of 51.87% while Jammu and Kashmir recorded the lowest voter turnout of 23.575%.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh recorded 48.52% , Andhra Pradesh recorded 40.26% , Bihar recorded 34.44% , Jharkhand recorded 43.8% , Odisha recorded 39.30%, Maharashtra recorded 30.85%, Telangana recorded 40.38 %, and Uttar Pradesh recorded 39.68% .

Voting for the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections in 96 Parliamentary Constituencies across nine states and one Union Territory began on Monday at 7:00 am.

BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday claimed that regional parties would play a key role post the Lok Sabha elections. Speaking to reporters after voting at his native village Chintamadaka in Siddipet district in Telangana, he said according to the BJP's own rule, no leader in the party would take up any position after attaining the age of 75.

"Accordingly, Mr Modi has to step down. It is up to the BJP people to think," he told reporters.

Observing that no law and order or any other problem had been reported in the early hours of polling, state Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj said some issues that cropped up in EVMs during mock polling have been addressed.
