Indian astronomers make breakthrough discovery about black hole using AstroSat
May 20, 2024A team of Indian astrophysicists has made a significant discovery shedding new light on the physics of gas accretion and relativistic jet formation around black holes. This discovery involves the observation of ‘aperiodic (irregular) modulation’ of high-energy X-ray photons emitted from a black hole binary system during an unusual outburst phase. This breakthrough was made possible by observations from India's first dedicated multi-wavelength space observatory, AstroSat.
Einstein proved right! Study gives first proof of 'plunging regions' around black holes
May 16, 2024A new study by an international team led by researchers at Oxford University Physics has provided the first observational proof of a key prediction from Einstein’s theory of gravity regarding the existence of “plunging regions” around black holes. In the upcoming months, another team from Oxford University aims to progress towards capturing the first footage of larger.

May 14, 2024 Isro announced its diligent surveillance and acquisition of data concerning the potent solar storm unleashed by the notably active sunspot region AR13664. This event, which occurred in early May 2024, instigated a barrage of vigorous X-class flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs) directed towards Earth. The ensuing geomagnetic storm marked the most powerful occurrence since 2003, leading to disturbances in communication and GPS systems, particularly in regions of high latitudes.
Isro achieves major milestone with 3D printed rocket engine
May 10, 2024On May 9, Isro achieved a significant feat by successfully hot testing a liquid rocket engine manufactured through additive manufacturing. This innovative approach has led to the redesign of the engine for the PSLV's PS4 stage, showcasing remarkable advancements in space technology.
