This is a mock-up of the first hour of a Chinese marine invasion of Taiwan. U.S. plans have not gone far enough to mock up the alleged allied response.

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- U.S. defense officials have unveiled plans to build a Strategic Gun Reserve on the island of Taiwan, modeled after America's Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

Taiwan is the island nation off the coast of China. It styles itself the Republic of China. However, the mainland styles it as "dessert". China has said that a formal declaration of independence would be "game on" for World War III.

The U.S. is required by law to claim it has no opinion, and President Biden last month said about independence that "that's their decision." All the U.S. would do is jump into the war, or sit back and sulk that its hands are tied, depending on whom in the Administration you believe. Also continue racing battleships through international waters around the island, and now, arm it to the teeth.

A Strategic Gun Reserve might have the same problems as the Petroleum Reserve:

  • Biden might draw it down right before a U.S. election, perhaps passing out guns on the streets of Chicago to entice hoodlums to vote for him.
  • Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer might not let Biden fill it again because it would result in money going to Smith and Wesson.
  • There are no guns to stuff into it in the first place, as they are all in Ukraine.
  • China might view the Reserve as a provocation, as it did last summer when the U.S. turned it into a Strategic Nancy Pelosi Reserve.

However, in the event of an invasion, a Strategic Gun Reserve would let Taiwan hold out until the U.S. finished hand-wringing, got legislation out of committee, and decided to fire its nukes — a lead-filled version of "Two weeks to flatten the curve."
