Fans out in force for ‘Clone Wars’

Animated film premieres at Egyptian

The Egyptian Theater courtyard became part of a galaxy far, far away Sunday afternoon as “Star Wars” returned to the bigscreen with the preem of the animated “Clone Wars.”

Jedi look-alikes, clone soldiers (aka storm troopers) and R2D2 himself joined Janet Jackson, Forest Whitaker, J.J. Abrams and, of course, the Jedi master George Lucas.

Helmer Dave Filoni admitted there was no way to prepare for the fan and media interest in a new “Star Wars” movie.

“It seems like this is something for other people. You always see stuff like this on TV. So it’s amazing and a thrill for me.”

Catherine Taber, who voices Anakin Skywalker’s ill-fated lover Padme in the film, said, “You just feel sort of grateful to be the part of the whole ‘Star Wars’ thing in general.”

Taber said she got the news she’d landed the part when her agent called and said, “Hey Padme.”
