AVALANCHE SIGNS SIX
DENVER ñ The Colorado Avalanche announced today that the club has reached an agreement with six players. All six will report to the Avalanche training camp when it opens on September 8 at the Family Sports Center in Englewood, Colorado. Signing new contracts with the organization were forwards Mike Craig, Dan Hinote, and Ville Nieminen. Defensemen Dan Smith and Brian White, along with goaltender Frederic Cassivi, also inked new deals. Hinote, Nieminen, and Smith played last season for the clubís American Hockey League affiliate in Hershey, Pennsylvania for most of the season while also appearing in games for the Avalanche. Defenseman Brian White and goaltender Frederic Cassivi played all of last season in Hershey. Forward Mike Craig played last season with Kentucky of the American Hockey League where he led the Thoroughblades in goals (39) and points(78) while finishing sixth in the AHL in scoring. -AVS-
