Biased

Sir, — Your editorial, "Reprieve and resignation" ( Sept. 20 ) is biased. While L.K. Advani cannot be exonerated of the moral liability for the demolition of Babri Masjid, the Rae Bareli Court has discharged him because some witnesses have spoken about his efforts to prevent the mischief. I honestly believe that a man of Mr. Advani's age and experience, considering his subsequent regretful statements before the commission of enquiry, would have made some attempt to prevent the demolition. It is intellectual dishonesty to dispute an honest judicial pronouncement.

S. Charuhasan,
Chennai
