With Tech hosting Notre Dame tomorrow in the season opener for both schools, many activities over the next two days have been planned to show support for the Jackets.

This evening several events that students and fans alike can attend are scheduled to show support for the upcoming season and fall sports at Tech.

First, between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. today in Yellow Jacket Park ESPN will be taping segments for College GameDay to air on Friday night's Sportscenter.

Students are urged to come out and show support for the Jackets. Also, the volleyball team is hosting Georgia at 6 p.m. in O'Keefe Gymnasium.

A pre-pep rally has been scheduled for tonight starting at 7 p.m. in the central park area of Atlantic Station.

There will be rides, live music by Moriah Martin and free food provided by Publix. Buzz, the Tech cheerleaders and the marching band will then kick off the pep rally at 8 p.m.

Tomorrow, all of college football will turn to Tech, as ESPN's College GameDay will be presented live in Yellow Jacket Park. The program, hosted by college football commentators Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso and Chris Fowler, will air starting at 10 a.m. and run until noon.

Students and fans are asked to arrive at Yellow Jacket Park at 8:30 a.m. as the GameDay crew will begin shooting segments for the morning Sportscenter. Students who are early birds will receive free prizes from Home Depot. Students can also have their picture taken with the College GameDay stage before the show starts.

A contest for the best banner displayed at the show is planned with the winner receiving free Tech gear, free tickets to a Tech game and a gift card to the bookstore. Tomorrow there are two more volleyball games at O'Keefe Gymnasium as the Jackets host Georgia State at 9:30 a.m. and Northern Iowa at 3:30 p.m.

At 5:30 p.m., on the east side of Peters Parking Deck, fans can greet the players as they walk down Brittain Drive to the locker room. Tech cheerleaders, the marching band and Buzz, will lead the players.

The final event will occur two and half hours before kickoff, as Georgia Tech Wreckfest pre-game activities will begin on the south end of Peters Parking Deck.

There will be food, inflatables and autograph sessions with current and former Tech athletes.

The game is set for an 8 p.m. kickoff on Saturday at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Historic Grant Field.
