Erdogan: History Will Judge President's Veto

Published: 5/30/2007

ANKARA - "History will judge Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer`s recent veto of constitutional amendments," said Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on Tuesday.

Addressing the group meeting of the Justice and Development (AK) Party, Erdogan indicated that "surely, President Sezer`s veto is subject to comments and we will comment on the veto without creating tension" , noted Erdogan.

"How can those who see the election of the Turkish president by popular vote as a problem for the regime ask votes from the people?" asked Erdogan.

"The dear people of Turkey will send those who did not participate in the presidential election out of the parliament for good", he also underlined.

"Certain milieu may misjudge our different cultural richness. But we always stand united against those circles," concluded PM Erdogan.
