Sigarms donates $100,000 to foundation

In July, Sigarms presented the Special Operations Warrior Foundation with a check for $100,000 during a Capitol Hill press conference. The donation brings the total raised by the company in support of the foundation to $125,000. The funds will be used to provide college scholarships for the children of special operations personnel killed in operational or training missions.

"Sigarms appreciates the sacrifices the Navy SEALs and other special operations personnel make to preserve our freedom. For some, that sacrifice is the ultimate and they leave behind not just a legacy of freedom and valor but often a family and children. That is why we and Special Tactical Services (STS) pledged to support the Warrior Foundation and help ease the burden so many of these families are feeling," said Peter Kujawski, Sigarms Military and Government Sales vice president.

Sigarms raised the $100,000 through the sale of its SIG Sauer P226 Navy pistol, which the Navy SEALs carry in combat. Another $25,000 was raised through the sale of a pistol with serial number NSW0001, which was auctioned off on Laura Ingraham's nationally syndicated radio show.

"We are deeply appreciative of Sigarms' contribution to the Warrior Foundation," said John T. Carney Jr., foundation president. "Since the terrorist attack on Sept. 11, 2001, the special operations community lost 153 men and women who left behind 193 children. This generous contribution will go a long way in furthering the vital efforts of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation to make sure these children and their families are not forgotten."

Congressman Jim Saxton, chairman of the Terrorism, Unconventional Threats and Capabilities Subcommittee, hosted the press conference.

"I am very pleased to see other members of the private sector step up to the plate and assist in providing resources to help families who have made the ultimate sacrifice in preserving freedom for all of us. On behalf of the Special Forces community, I thank the employees and management of Sigarms for this special contribution," Saxton said.

Congressman Duncan Hunter, chairman of the Armed Services Committee, also thanked Sigarms for its support.

"While we cannot ever replace the value of a human life, we can ease the pain by assisting those who have been left behind. It is great to see this kind of response by people who care and I thank everyone involved," Hunter said.
