  • A federal grand jury indicts a reputed member of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) who was a former Mississippi policeman and sheriff's deputy, for the abductions and brutal murders of two young African-American men in 1964. The slayings have remained unsolved for nearly 43 years, and the suspect is now 71 years-old.
