Archaeowiki.org exists—in the first instance—to resource and document the research of Paul James Cowie, a London-based Australian archaeologist and Egyptologist, in the archaeology and ancient history of the Ancient Near East and Egypt; secondly, to provide a structure for the compilation of several diverse corpora of textual, archaeological and reference materials.

Archaeowiki.org has been in operation since March 2005. The site currently features 1,285 articles.
