Dion extends long Las Vegas stint

More than 1,000,000 tickets for Dion's show have been sold
Canadian singer Celine Dion has extended her popular Las Vegas show for another year.

Dion's show, entitled A New Day, opened at Caesars Palace in March 2003 for a three-year run.

But Kris Lingle, the show's spokesman, said that run had now been extended into 2007.

No financial details were released, but it Dion was reportedly being paid $100m (£66m) for the original three-year run of five 90-minute concerts a week.

The six-time Grammy winner performs about 200 shows annually, and the 1,000,000th ticket to A New Day was sold last month.

Mr Lingle said: "It's been a great success for everyone.

"The fans have absolutely loved the show. The response has been great."

During the show, Dion sings some of her most famous hits, including The Power of Love, as well as classics by artists such as Frank Sinatra.
