UPDATED 'Burn Notice' shocker: Bloodgood's in, Esposito's out!

Mar 18, 2009, 11:01 PM | by Michael Ausiello

Categories: Burn Notice

Espositomoon_lJust days after being cast as Jeffrey Donovan's latest arch nemesis on Burn Notice, Jennifer Esposito has dropped out of the role for health reasons, the actress' spokesperson confirms. Journeyman's Moon Bloodgood has stepped in to replace her.

No further details were available on the nature of Esposito's illness. A Burn Notice insider, meanwhile, says the Samantha Who? co-star's 11th hour exit was "a total bummer. Everyone was really excited to have her."

Bloodgood assumes the role of Michelle Paxon, a Miami PD detective who becomes obsessed with uncovering the truth about Michael. The character makes her debut early into BN's third season, which started production last week.

Sweet! Moon is a great add! Just saw her in that clusterf*** of a movie, Street Fighter, so I'm glad to see her get into something worth her time, effort, ability and attractiveness. ;)

Good news! Jeffrey Donovan is on TWITTER now and he has been giving a few little updates right from the B.N set.He has already started (today)working with Moon and he says SHE ROCKS!He thinks she is great for the role. They have been working on the set for 7 days now.

Who cares? Esposito can't act anyway. As long as the three main characters stay, the rest are just fillers.

Awesome, good for Moon. Hope Jen is okay, though. Even if it's a temporary illness, she had to back out completely? Couldn't just postpone her shooting scenes?? Weird. Missing BN already, can't wait for June, guess watching reruns online will have to do for now until then. Oh yeah, Fiona should be the only woman in Mikey's life, but I'm sure the writers will be tempted to put some attraction between Mike & Moon into play. Yeah, that'll be a good way to get the fans hyped up! LOL

To ashlee:
According to IMDB, her full name is Korinna Moon Bloodgood and her ethnicity is Korean, Irish, and Dutch.

Moon Bloodgood! Yes!
Hehe, I miss Journeyman now.

ashlee Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 02:06 PM EST

As long as she stays out of Fi's way, I don't care which female works on BN. However, I am curious about Moon's name. It is very American Indian. Does anyone know her heritage or is it just a stage name?

Pelon Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 11:42 AM EST

wish Esposito well but honestly, glad she's out. not a real fan. she's too limited as an actress. or perhaps she just keeps playing all her roles the same way ~ brassy, loud, annoying (spin city & now Samantha Who?) . like 'Burn Notice' and think Michael needs a smart, savvy, smooth-talkin'-walkin'-actin' nemeis. one can challenge him and drive him a little bit crazy (lol). like his co-horts in crime Fiona and (especially) Sam, who cracks me up big time!!!

BigFan Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 11:06 AM EST

DUDE - Moon is one of the leads in TERMINATOR SALVATION. I heard that she was chosen by the Burn Notice producers after they snuck into a screening and were blown away by her performance!

pink Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 10:41 AM EST

Personally,i don't really care who plays the part,as long as the character DOES NOT become Micheal's new love interest.I'm sure whoever plays the part will be good because All of the actors on that show are GREAT and they would not settle for anything less.I just want Fi to be the ONLY woman in Micheal's life!!

Brody Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 10:35 AM EST

Sudden medical emergency? I hope she's okay!

Big D Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 10:18 AM EST

Moon Bloodgood is breathtakingly beautiful and she was great on Journeyman. This is a Huge Upgrade!

nancy Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 09:13 AM EST

um sorry but anyone who has seen summer of sam or crash knows that esposito is by far the better actress

General Betray Us Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 08:24 AM EST

At first I was upset, but this actress looks AWESOME!!!!

Meredith44 Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 07:02 AM EST

I don't particularly care one way or the other about either actress. I just want the role to be good and for the character to be a suitable foil for Michael.

Margaret Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 04:23 AM EST

Moon is the better actress

Steph Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 12:50 AM EST

I miss Burn Notice terribly. Is it June yet?

Jen Wed, Mar 18, 2009 at 11:40 PM EST

Jennifer Esposito sucks anyway...Moon will be much more awesome (as if anyone on that show could possibly even compete at all with the sheer amazing awesomeness that is Jeffrey Donovan!)

Ryan O'Brien Wed, Mar 18, 2009 at 11:26 PM EST

yeah fan of both. Esposito is a little hotter but Bloodgood a little better actress and also better at tough roles. Looking forward to it

entwashian Wed, Mar 18, 2009 at 10:57 PM EST

I actually like both those actresses. Too bad they couldn't have found a role for each!

Nicotine Wed, Mar 18, 2009 at 10:53 PM EST

That sucks about Jennifer Esposito, but I've been a Moon Bloodgood fan ever since that failed show with Taye Diggs and that other failed show with Kevin McKidd. At least Burn Notice is solid, so it'd be nice to see her with some job security.

allie Wed, Mar 18, 2009 at 10:16 PM EST

Why would any woman not want to work with Jeffrey Donovan?!?!? Please get to the bottom of this Ausiello....
