Antoine Sibierski wants to play on for another year following his release by Latics.
The French striker had considered retiring this summer, but feels fit enough to try to find the last deal of his 17-year career.
His Latics contract runs out at the end of the month and he won't be offered a new one after a largely injury-hit two seasons at the JJB

Stadium in which he started just 12 league and cup games and appeared as a substitute a further 24 times.

Last season, the 34-year-old spent four months on loan at Norwich, returning to make two appearances from the bench against Middlesbrough and Chelsea in February.

Ideally, Sibierski wants to stay in England, but there could be a chance of a lucrative contract in Qatar, while a move back to a club in France is possible too.

Sibierski told the Evening Post: "I've decided to carry on playing for one more year.
"In the last couple of months, I was testing myself against other players in the Wigan squad and I realised I'm fit enough to go and find
a new challenge.

"I've had one or two phone calls about next season, but I think it will be July before anything gets sorted out.
"It could be one more year in England, but I've had a call about going to Qatar .

"Maybe I will go back to France, but my priority would be staying in England.

"My family are happy living here as we have for six years and this is where we want to live once my career is finished.
"And wherever I play next year, I will come back and be in Manchester for many years.
"The next challenge for me is not making money.

"I could make more money going to Qatar, but maybe
staying in England is better. I will see what happens. I've not discussed anything serious yet."

While Latics fans never saw see the best of Sibierski after his arrival from Newcastle, he has no regrets about joining Wigan.
He said: "I enjoyed my time here, and I like the Wigan people.

"The staff, the players and the people who work in the offices have all been good to work with.
"My best time was probably when I first came – I scored in three consecutive games while playing all the matches.

"But even when I was playing less, I still enjoyed being here.
"When Steve Bruce took the job and was playing me for 20 minutes as a sub, I was happy to give him everything I could.

"My fitness has got better in the last few months, I felt better in training and I trust myself to be able to carry on.
" Steve Bruce has said 'don't retire' as he thinks I can still play on for a year or two."

Sibierski is one of two first-team squad players to have been released, with Henri Camara the other after an unsuccessful stint on loan at Stoke.

With loan players Mido and Amr Zaki also leaving, it leaves manager-in-waiting Roberto Martinez with plenty of scope to bolster the attack.
Martinez will be confirmed as boss tomorrow once Dave Whelan returns from holiday, with his public unveiling the following day.
