DDR3 scaling on Core i7

Daily Vibble 1066MHz is your best bet
Thursday, 25 June 2009, 19:08

ANANDTECH IS MEASURING just how important is memory speed when we get to the Core i7. It seems that paying top-dollar for a quality DDR3 kit is unnecessary if you're into Core i7, so do yourself a favour and buy some decent DDR3-1066 with tight timings... it'll come in way cheaper than the higher-end DDR3-2000 kits that are out and about, and you'll only "lose" a couple of frames.

Xbit Labs has gathered 57 models of 120mm and 140mm fans (ie: a small wind farm). All we can say is that there's a lot to read and there're 30 pages of content for you to peruse.

Thrusted Reviews and the HP Pavilion dv3 2050ea 13.3-inch notebook got along fine. Battery life almost got them a full day's work, but Andy thinks there's more value to the Samsung Q320.

Think Computers checks out the handy NZXT Panzerbox ATX gaming case. Bob says it makes a great LAN party case, despite the "mid tower" classification. Just 6.3Kgs and 100% aluminum.

Fudo's guys have a go at the Dell Adamo - that wannabe MacBook Air competitor... it has a glaring problem, if you know what we mean.

Tech Gage enjoys a little freehand drawing with the Wacom Intuos 4 Professional Pen Tablet. It seems Jen is smittened by the tablet, for all the right reasons.

Tom's Hardware Store looks at some power-saving HDDs from Samsung and Western Digital - 1.5TB a piece. WD has the upper hand maximizing power saving and piling on the performance.

AMD's top chipset is almost two years-old by now, but it hasn't stopped mobo makers from churning out high-performing erm... mobos, like the Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P at PC Perps.

OCIA tests a Fatal1ty-branded OCZ 550W PSU. It's a new model, unlike its non-modular ancestors from a while back. 12V performance isn't all it could be, but the general impression is positive.

Coolermaster's Hyper 212 Plus offers twin 120mm fan action (although it only comes with one) on your CPU cooler and PWM fan control for a bit more silence in the dull moments. Proclockers has it.

Digital Trends games a bit with the Microsoft Sidewinder X3 gaming mouse. Not the highest res mouse on the market, or the cheapest for that matter, but it does have a bluetrack sensor.

A Legit Review of the WD My Book World Edition II external 2TB NAS drive can be found here today. It provides you with all you need to concentrate your network storage in a single place, but does cost a whopping $400 (2TB version).

Laptop Mag spent some time with the Android-based HTC Hero and its Sense technology. Hero is the new handset, while Sense is the new touch overlay that'll power the GUI. Lots of nice new features.

Hardware Logic looks on to the Gigabyte GK-K6800 professional multimedia keyboard (whatever that means). Designed to have no squared edges, it does look trendy and inexpensive.

If you're short on money and need a professional opinion on cheap flat panels, just go to Dev Hardware. Katie tests 20 different models.

Extremetech puts Nvidia, Intel and ATI on board the transcoding train. Odd numbers and not very conclusive, but you do get a feel for an app that can transcode using both CUDA and ATI Stream. µ

Wait Till NTSC Clears Channel....

Just having NTSC Tuner is more than waste, it surely incorporates much inter polated technology into screen electronics. BAD. Die NTSC, DIE.

Intels i7, as far as commentos' Mas,MAs,Mas knows are all limited to DDR3 1066, its inside cpu itself. So whats point? Uber Is Code For About To burn Out Completely, if it could do that higher speed, it'd be on package & in Pricing.

Signed:Super Uber.
