Michael Sheen Confirmed for Tron Legacy
Source: Twitter
July 29, 2009

Walt Disney Pictures confirmed the rumors today on Twitter that Michael Sheen will have a role in director Joseph Kosinski's Tron Legacy, targeted for a November or December, 2010 release. Sheen will reportedly play the villain, who, he himself tweeted, is "in fact not a person at all."

In the 3D adventure, Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his father's disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin's loyal confidant (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.

You can view the VFX Concept Test that was shown at the San Diego Comic-Con here and the official site is also online here.

Why do they always forget about me?

This is going to be good! Can't wait for this one!

I hope they drastically improve the out of date animation for the characters - they look so fake compared to the original! Then again, maybe the teaser was rushed...

Man, I wish this movie was not a year and half away.

For the millionth time, it's not a teaser, it was a CG demonstration. They made it before the movie was even greenlit.

Disney is evil. No doubts about it. Is this gonna be on imax? I loved when Southpark made Moses look like master control.. wasnt that his name?

Emelio, Michael Sheen is of no relation to Martin or Charlie.

I don't know what the haters are watching but seeing the original in theaters and now seeing the CG demo, I have to say the update is amazing and blows the original away. The fact that they kept the same elements, characters and music as well as adding a degree of high-polish, i'm very excited to see this release.

Semper Fi!

iH8Shia — it's set inside a computer. It SHOULD look computer generated.

I actually don't mind the CG for the VFX test...It wasn't 100% real looking, but then again, that's alright. I liked the idea of the player's faces being sort of projected onto the face of their...avatar? It was a unique idea...can't wait to see what the actual movie looks like because i've watched the test footage like a dozen times already.

I wish they were riding the cycles inside instead of on top.

richard, there are two kinds of lightbikes

Cant wait and that picture is bad ass!!

Posted by: James on July 29, 2009 at 19:35:17

i'm not sure about this movie. I dont want to follow Garrett Hedlund on his search for the original Tron people! Having this "Passing of the Torch to the son" thing is such a bad idea! It did NOT work for Indy 4, it wont work for Ghostbusters and i really dont think it'll work for this either! we'll see though

Is it the same guy who played Lucian from the Underworld Prequel?

Posted by: Steve Dave on July 29, 2009 at 19:54:43

Big Gamble, hope it's the s hit

Posted by: A scoobie on July 29, 2009 at 20:55:01

Yay, I am totally psyched about this. I haven't seen the original, but this looks fantastic. and yes, he is the guy from underworld.

If its not a teaser then whys it on the trailer page of Itunes

Posted by: Snarky Bastard on July 29, 2009 at 21:05:32

Ryder, after you learn how to read, go TO the Tron page at iTunes, it says "VFX Concept Test" not "teaser trailer."

Well if u have'nt seen the original by now, You might be let down, I seen it back in the day and it was awesome but watching it now the acting is kinda generic but the effects still look cool. It just depends on what kind of person you are. Into nostalgia you'll dig, if you are'nt, you'll think its lame.
