AEROSMITH Cancels Remainder Of Summer Tour - Aug. 14, 2009
Legendary rockers AEROSMITH have canceled the remainder of their summer tour, it was announced today.

Due to injuries Steven Tyler sustained last week when he fell from the stage during a concert in Sturgis, South Dakota, doctors have advised the lead singer to take the time to properly recuperate from the accident that resulted in a broken shoulder and stitches to his head. In his current condition, Tyler is unable to tour and the band wants to give him time to get healthy.

Ticket refunds for the rest of the tour dates with special guests ZZ TOP will be available at point of purchase.

Tyler fell from the stage during the August 5 show that was part of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Western South Dakota. The mishap occurred while he was dancing during the band's "Love in an Elevator". Tyler was subsequently airlifted to a hospital and then returned to Boston to consult with his own doctors.

AEROSMITHSteven Tyler (vocals), Joe Perry (guitar), Brad Whitford (guitar), Tom Hamilton (bass) and Joey Kramer (drums) — want to thank all their fans for their incredible ongoing support and understanding at this time.

"Words can't express the sadness I feel for having to cancel this tour," says Joe Perry. "I would like to thank our loyal fans for sticking by us through thick and thin and all the good energy they are sending our way. We hope we can get the AEROSMITH machine up and running again as soon as possible. I sure am going to miss playing with ZZ TOP just as I'm sure the fans are going to miss seeing them playing with us as well. Hope to see you sooner than later." Joe adds, "My hat's off to our crew for putting up with this crazy stop and start tour. In my estimation, it was one of the best-looking and best-run tours we've ever had. Us road dawgs will meet again. May your wheels keep turning and your load-ins stay smooth."

"All of us here in the AEROSMITH organization and all of the people who contribute to making our shows possible are in a state of shock," Brad Whitford says. "We never anticipated this tour coming to such a swift and unfortunate ending. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Steven for a speedy recovery and return to good health."

Quality video footage of AEROSMITH's June 26, 2009 performance at Jones Beach in Wantagh, New York can be viewed below.

Way to ruin a fucking great band. "Rocks" was probably the best hard rock album of the entire decade - They were DANGEROUS. Now they do fashion rock for soccer moms. Yawn.

I'm sorry that he was hurt, but I don't care that they canceled the tour.
Aerosmith these days SUCK.
They own an impressive legacy, yes, but those days are long gone.
Now they are nothing but a facade and a brand, representing a group of commercial songwriters. There's nothing rock and roll about that.

Why don't they just get a replacement member, like they usually do?

Okay, RiotAct666, take it away!!

I don't think Aerosmith sucks.... rock fans don't ever like to accept when a band changes direction and gets a little (or a lot) more mainstream. I'm guilty of that too to an extent...but, a good rocking band or song, is just that. I can frown at an outside songwriter stepping in, but if the song is great, I'm not going to deny it and say it sucks. Love In An Elevator is a kick ass song anyway you slice it... killer riff in the intro, strong verses with cleverly sleazy lyrics, hooks...etc

Plus, Aerosmith live is just a great Rock n' Roll concert that you just don't see from younger bands.

I don't really enjoy their stuff as much as I used to, but they don't suck. You have to respect what they have done and respect. They started AC/DC for christs sake. That should give them respect on any account.

I am more upset that I dont get to see ZZ Top now than the fact that Aerosmith canceled the tour.... Top should take it over.

Aerosmith are legends. When you've accomplished a fraction of what they have, you can take it easy and get a songwriter or two. They've earned the right to kick back, and just rock the fuck out. When you've jumped through all the hoops and proven yourself the way they have, you can do whatever you please. Do some commercials. Enjoy the damn success you earned.

Looks like Mr. Tyler IS "going doooooown".

I know...the joke has been done to death, but it's still pretty fuckin' funny.

Seriously, this has been a nightmare from the start. And why were they out anyway? No new material to promote.

Well what comes around goes around they say. These guys lied to the fans. I bought tickets based on them playing Toys or Rocks no Love In an Elevator shit.

I would suggest they take this time to work on a new record while Tyler is drugged up on pain killers ... maybe we will get something worth listening to again.

Could ZZ Top play for over an hour? billy Gibbons is sick. (No, I mean ill; as in hepatitis). I paid to see a show and watched maybe a 65 minute set.

The good old days are OVER for both of these bands. jsut buy the video.

they lost my respect around 1986...right about the time Desmond Child showed up. Up until then they were are a great kick ass rock n roll band. That includes Rock N Hard Place and Done With Mirrors.

How they went from Nobody's Fault to Angel is beyond me
