The United Arab Emirates came into being on December 2, 1972 when all the member emirates merged into a union. The credit of molding the UAE into a developed nation with high standards of living goes to Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the erstwhile rulers of Abu Dhabi and Dubai respectively.
