What is a Tourism Excellence Plan? |
These Excellence Plans last for three or four years, depending on each city and have the aim of increasing and improving the offer, renewing tourist infrastructures, recovering and making the historic centres more attractive, developing quality plans in hotel establishments, etc. The main objective is to remove the seasonal nature of tourism and to diversify the offer, so that in addition to sun and beach tourism, there is a complementary offer which in our case, is focused on giving value to and promoting Eivissa/Ibiza, World Heritage. Eivissa achieved this plan in 2005 and started work in mid October last year. The institutions that signed the agreement were the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, the Department of Tourism of the Government of the Balearic Islands, the Insular Council of Ibiza and Formentera and Eivissa/Ibiza Town Council. The Small and Medium Enterprises of Ibiza and Formentera and the Hotel Federation of Ibiza and Formentera are also participating. The budget approved for the four-year period from 2005 to 2008 is three million euros which will be destined to carrying out different projects, basically in three directions: · urban recovery: rehabilitating and repairing streets and gardens; signposting the historic centre, etc. Tourism Excellence Plan |
