LUCKLESS St Kilda player Jesse Smith has announced his retirement, finally conceding to his long-running battle with injury.
The 24-year-old was drafted by the Saints with pick 60 at last year's NAB AFL Draft after he left North Melbourne where he played 27 games and kicked three goals in five seasons after battling with foot and hamstring injuries.
He tried to make a fresh start with the Saints but broke down after several games with VFL team Sandringham.
Former Richmond ruckman Adam Pattison has also been delisted after just one season with the Saints and Andrew Lovett has been officially cut from the list several months after he was sacked.
Rookies Mark Hutchings and Blake McGrath have also been cut, while Tom Simpkin has been elevated to the senior list.
The Saints have also added Paul Hudson and Adam Kingsley to their coaching staff. They join Peter Berbakov, Robert Harvey and Steven King on the new-look coaching staff.
Kingsley has spent the past four seasons as an assistant coach with Port Adelaide, where he also played 170 games including the 2004 premiership.
Hudson has crossed from Collingwood to be St Kilda's development manager. He was previously an assistant at the Brisbane Lions and before that coached TAC Cup side Gippsland Power.
