NEW!
New Poster Competition at 2011 APA Annual Meeting
Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Hawaii Convention Center
    See the submission crib sheet HERE.

The APA is introducing a special, newly created poster session dedicated to residents, medical students, and research or clinical fellows at the 2011 American Psychiatric Association Annual Meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii. Residents, medical students, and fellows are formally invited to participate by sharing their research projects and practice experiences with colleagues, thereby broadening their professional relationships and helping to contribute to the field.

Submission categories:

  • Psychosocial and/or Biomedical Research Projects;
  • Patient-Oriented & Epidemiology Projects;
  • Curriculum Development and Educational Projects;
  • Community Service Projects

All posters will undergo expert review and will receive formative feedback pertaining to the scientific quality, innovation and creativity, and presentation of the posters. An award and plaque will be given for the best poster within each category.

Guidelines for abstract submissions are as follows:
1. All authors must be current residents or fellows in the United States or Canada at the time of submission.  Membership in the American Psychiatric Association (APA) is not required.
2. The resident/student must be first author.
3. While working with senior colleagues is encouraged, the work submitted must be primarily that of the resident/student, rather than of the senior faculty member or investigator.
4. Only one submission per presenter is allowed.
5. Only generic drug names are to be used in the abstract or on the poster.

Residents whose abstracts are accepted for poster presentation must attend the 2011 APA Annual Meeting and be present during the session to discuss their findings and answer questions. The submission period opens November 2, 2010, and the last day to submit an abstract is December 7, 2010. Abstracts must be submitted electronically through the Web site, http://www.psych.org/onlinesubmission/.
