NEW YORK -- In a draw conducted Tuesday at the CONCACAF headquarters in New York City, match-ups for the Championship Round of the 2011/12 CONCACAF Champions League were determined.An all-Mexican pairing and an all-Major League Soccer meeting will highlight the quarterfinals.
Monterrey, the defending Champions League champion, will face fellow Mexican side Morelia in one quarterfinal, while the LA Galaxy will play Toronto FC in another. The USA's Seattle Sounders were drawn to meet Santos of Mexico, with El Salvador's Isidro Metapan and Pumas of Mexico squaring off in the other quarterfinal.
Group winners Monterrey, LA Galaxy, Santos and Pumas are assured of playing the second leg, March 13-15, at home and have drawn against the four runners-up, with the only restriction being that they cannot face the same team that it played in the Group Stage.
Morelia, Toronto FC, Seattle Sounders and Isidro Metapan will be home for the first leg, March 6-8.
The semifinal pairings also pit the LA Galaxy-Toronto FC winner against the Seattle Sounders-Santos winner, while the survivor of the Monterrey-Morelia quarterfinal will play either Pumas or Isidro Metapan.
The LA Galaxy or Toronto FC will host the first leg of its semifinal against Santos or the Seattle Sounders March 27-29, with Monterrey or Morelia being at home against Pumas or Isidro Metapan the same week.
Santos or Seattle, and either Pumas or Isidro Metapan host the second leg of the semifinals April 3-5.
The first leg of the final will be hosted in either Mexico or El Salvador April 17-19. The second leg will be either in the USA, Mexico or Canada April 24-26.
