Angeles, San Fernando cities come ‘full circle’

ANGELES CITY -- Vice Mayor Vick Vega-Cabigting said over the weekend that the cities of Angeles and San Fernando have finally come full circle after signing the sister cities pact at the Museo Ning Angeles.

Vega-Cabigting said the twin cities pact will certainly work toward realizing the efforts of the two local governments in improving the delivery of basic services to their constituents.

She revealed that Angeles City is the child of the City of San Fernando after Don Panteleon De Miranda established the city as Culiat to eventually become Angeles sometime in 1829.

“We owe much to Fernandinos what we are now,” she said, “and thank you much for allowing Don Panteleon De Miranda to establish Angeles City.
Though the umbilical cord between the two cities has been cut-off long time ago, we know it is still there and hope that our good relationship will continue to be nurtured in the years to come. This is a very historic moment as we come full circle with the sister cities agreement.”

The vice mayor also said some traits of Angeleños inherited from Fernandinos.

“First, from Fernandinos we inherited their resiliency which is very important as we move on. Then there is this bravery to face all challenges and moments of ‘darkness’ which we continue to overcome,” she said.

The twin cities pact will certainly work toward realizing the efforts of the two local governments in improving the delivery of basic services to their constituents, she added.

Meanwhile, Vega-Cabigting also said Angeles City and the City of San Fernando will jointly host the Vice-Mayors League of the Philippines led by Isko Moreno from February 29 to March 2 this year at Hotel Stotsenberg at Clark Freeport where about 800 vice mayors are expected to attend.
