Vittalacharya, is the father of special effects movies in India. Way back in 1978, he made a mythological extravaganza Jaganmohini, in Telugu with Jayamalini playing the lead role.
The film turned out to be a super hit in its Tamil avatar also, which resulted in a Vittalacharya magic and sorcerer films which were popular in rural areas.
Now a modern Jaganmohini is being made with Namitha doing the title role which was originally done by Jayamalini.She plays the role of a deep sea diver in this movie.
To add more glamour the director Viswanathan has roped in Nila to do a special appearance and music is by Ilayaraja. The shooting of Jaganmohini was kick started in Madurai by none other than Azhagiri, the powerful politician and son of Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi. Raja is playing the main lead role in this film,which was actually done by Narasimha Raju in the earlier version.
