(BEIJING, August 23) -- Defending Olympic champion Andreas Thorkildsen of Norway took first place in the Men's Javelin Throw final with a throw of 90.57m, setting a new Olympic record in the process. In second place to claim the silver was Ainars Kovals of Latvia, throwing a personal best of 86.64m. Finland's Tero Pitkamki claimed the bronze medal with 86.16m.
