Boeing’s third 747-8 Freighter reached an altitude of 30,000 feet and an airspeed of 245 knots during its first flight Wednesday, Boeing said Wednesday evening. It took off from Everett’s Paine Field, beside Boeing’s wide-body plant, at 3:27 p.m., Pacific time, and landing at Boeing Field, in Seattle, at 5:58 p.m.
The jet is the last to join the 747-8 Freighter’s test-flight fleet and will, among other things, perform fuel-mileage testing. Boeing plans to deliver its first 747-8 Freighter to a customer in the fourth quarter of this year.
