Going into the 2012 CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport) season, the Manitoba Bisons women’s soccer program will have a new head coach on the sidelines after past head coach Chris Lewis stepped due to personal reasons. Bison Sports is pleased to announce Hadyn Sloane-Seale (pronounced: Hay-Den) as the new Bison women’s soccer head coach for the upcoming 2012 season.

Sloane-Seale, 38, becomes the third coach in the program’s history and completed his first season with the Bisons women’s soccer team in 2011 as an assistant coach. The Kelvin graduate brings with him experience from the United States, both as a player and a coach.

As a coach, Sloane-Seale holds a USSF A License as well as a NSCAA Advanced Diploma. The Winnipeg native was a staff coach at the University of Texas Soccer Camp from 1999-2003 and also coached at the Indiana University Soccer Camp for four years with Hall of Famer Jerry Yeagley. He was an assistant in the Western Illinois University's men's soccer program from 1999-2000. Sloane-Seale then moved to women’s program as the assistant from 2000-02. After leaving Western Illinois, he became the trainer for the Challenge Soccer Club in Houston, TX, which was recognized as one of the top 30 female clubs in the country. During his time at the club, he helped to develop several youth players into regional and national teams.

During his playing days, Sloane-Seale spent three years as a starter on NCAA Division 1 Adelphi University soccer team from 1994-1997 and spent two of those years as team captain. He won the Ed Fonseca Award in his final season for his leadership. Earlier in his career, he played on the provincial team from 1987-1993, being named team captain in 1991 and 1993. Later in his playing career, Sloane-Seale became a national champion playing with Lucania FC in Winnipeg.

Academically, Sloane-Seale obtained BA in arts, psychology, and then went on to get his Masters of Education in Counselor Education and a Masters of Science in Physical Education, both from Western Illinois University. He also has presentations on anxiety disorders, anorexia and athletes, as well as goal setting.

Gary Johnson was one of the founders along with Walter McKee of the women’s soccer club at the University of Manitoba in 2000. The club was the precursor to the current Bison Women's Soccer Team. Johnson has been with Bisons since they entered Canada West Conference in the 2005 season.

Johnson’s soccer coaching background started in 1992. He has a level III Youth and Senior Community club license (passed pre B License testing for Provincial B License). He has been a head coach at the community club and provincial level.  At the provincial level, Johnson has been a head coach for the U-17 all-stars and was the first head coach with the U-14 all-stars. As head coach the U-14 all-star, the team won the All American Girls tournament in Blaine, Minnesota. The second year of the U-14 all-star team Johnson was an assistant coach for the team that took silver at the Rocky Mountain Cup in Edmonton, Alberta.

Although Johnson never played soccer above the recreational level, he continues to play soccer at that level whenever he has time.

Johnson has a Ph.D. in Natural Resources and Environmental Economics, M.Sc. in Water Resources Management, M.A. in Agricultural Economics, and a B.Sc. in Engineering.

Desiree Scott is no stranger to the brown and gold of the Manitoba Bisons, as she joins the coaching staff for her first year in 2011 after playing five seasons (2005-09) with the Bisons soccer program.

Scott, an education student at the University of Manitoba, has a history in coaching despite her young age. She was an assistant coach for the West Kildonan Cougars high school team from 2003 until 2005. She also coached at the South End United Soccer Academy, and ran camps for kids while playing with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the women's league, and the Canadian Women's National team. Closer to home, she also ran soccer clinics and camps for the Charleswood C.C and was a presenter and instructor for a number of different high school clubs in Winnipeg.

The former Bison Sports Female Athlete of the Year (2009-10), Scott made a huge imprint on the Manitoba Bisons women’s soccer program as a player during her illustrious five-year career. She earned four total conference All-Star recognition (First Team: 2008, 2009; Second Team: 2005, 2006) along with being named 2005 Canada West Rookie of the Year. The Winnipeg native registered 58 points (32g, 26a) in 64 conference regular season games.

During her playing career, Scott has played at the university, national, and international level. Scott also participated in the Women's U-20 CONCACAF Championships and represented Canada at the U-20 World Cup in Russia in 2006, and was a two-time World University Games team member, participating in the FISU games in Thailand and Serbia in 2007 and 2009. Scott also won a gold medal with Canada at the 2010 CONCACAF Women's World Cup Qualifier, Scott started four of five games (played all five) and started both of Pan Am playoff matches as the Canadian National Women’s Soccer team earned their first-ever gold medal at a 2011 Pan American Games in Mexico, started and played for to the 21 player roster Team Canada the 2011 Women's World Cup in Germany. The Winnipeg native was part of the Team Canada roster that qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London after a semi-final over Mexico by a 3-1 score in the 2012 CONCACAF Women's Soccer Olympic Qualifying at Vancouver.

The Canadian Soccer Association recognized Desiree Scott as the Canada Soccer Female Player of the Month for January 2012. Scott is currently still a member of the Canadian Women's Senior National Team, and has also played for the Vancouver Whitecaps FC (2006, 2010).

The international experience is spread out among the Bisons coaching staff, and Amy Anderson continues that trend. She also continues the trend of new faces on the staff.

Anderson graduated from the University of Winnipeg in 2000, and has since played soccer in North America and overseas.

In terms of coaching, Anderson coached youth football in Bristol, England, as well as high school soccer in Manitoba, and also joined the staff of the U-14 Provincial Girls team as a staff coach. Anderson was also a big part in helping to start a youth soccer program at the YMCA YWCA in 2006. She completed her F.A. Level 1 Coaching course and her Fitness Instructor Level 2 Award in Bristol during her time there.

Anderson also brings international playing experience to the team. Anderson played for the Bristol Rovers women's football team, and also played on loan with the Forest Green Rovers and the Keynsham Town Women's Soccer team in Somerset, England.

Provincially, she played in the Canada Games in 1993 and 1997, and played on provincial soccer teams from age 13 right up until she was 19.

She is also a multi sport athlete, playing for the University of Winnipeg Wesmen women's basketball team from 1995-1997, and just like in soccer, she played for provincial teams in basketball as well.

Scott Dixon came to Manitoba from Victoria as a highly recruited football kicker in 2007. Dixon was part of the 2007 Vanier Cup Champion Bisons football team and played until 2009.

Even with his football background, Dixon has a deep history in soccer, having played at several all-star and select levels. He was part of the 2004 Provincial Champions Gorge United.

Dixon is motivated to return to soccer to begin a career in coaching, and has aspirations of coaching at the highest level. he was with the Bison women's soccer team starting in the 2011 season.
