EVIL camera: Not Actually Evil

I’m way for any product that has "evil" in the name, but it turns out the EVIL Camera Project has nothing to do with sin and damnation. Instead, it’s retired physicist Charlie Davis’ effort to create his notion of the ideal layout for a digital camera. As he explains:

EVIL€ stands for "€œElectronic Viewfinder with Interchangeable Lens."€ It’€™s the mythical Holy Grail for many people, combining the EVF from one type of camera and the Interchangeable Lens from another type. In that sense, it’€™s the ultimate "€œBridge"€ camera! After many years of predicting that an EVIL design was pending (and not being a good futurist), I decided to explore what an EVIL Bridge camera might look like and how it might work. While I’€™m at it, I decided to address several gripes I have with the design of most cameras.

The initial designs look rather wicked, and if nothing else, the effort is a potent demonstration that my pet peeves about camera design are not necessarily your pet peeves about camera design.
