I’m an Environmental Technologist-Environmental Scientist by profession; Chartered Water Manager, Chartered Environmentalist, Chartered Waste Manager and registered Environmental Auditor. Environmental Expert in Water Fluoridation, Waste Management, Acoustics, Sustainability, Renewable Energy, Environmental Management and Impact Assessment.
I have held senior management positions in industry, research, business & environmental consultancy for over twenty years. After ten years working in the mining industry including successfully co-ordinating and implementing EU research projects in impact assessment, life cycle assessment and water management and in research I returned to West Cork to establish the environmental services and planning division for the SWS Group. In addition to providing professional environmental consultancy services to a wide range of clients a major part of my work was research and development within the SWS Group. I developing a core skills network within the organisation that would transform the agri-services to a major renewable energy and waste management company.
By the time I left in March 2007 the ownership had been successful transferred to Ion Equity for €110 Million. In that period I was a member of the senior management team and Director of Environment and Planning providing strategic advice on planning, development and strategic business development in energy, waste and commercial opportunities for the SWS Group.
In the meantime I established:
• EnviroManagement Services in 2007 providing independent bespoke environmental services
• Partnership for Change in 2008 - a not for profit climate change and low carbon initiative,
• PhotogalleryIreland.com a commercial photography website.
I was awarded the Cork Environmental Forum outstanding individual contribution to the Environment Award in 2008 and am a member of Cork County Council Strategic Planning Committee.

I was a member of the management team in the pre-development, design, construction and operation of a base metal mining development with Arcon Mines Ltd. Galmoy from 1995-2000. This project had a capitol value of €100 million.
While at Arcon Mines I obtained significant EU funding for the company by successfully pursuing participating in a number of key EU environmental research and development (R&D) programmes. In addition to my duties and responsibilities within the company I participated as a senior environmental scientist on all research projects. For two years from 1997-99 I was an elected member of the Board of the Irish Mining and Quarrying Society(IMQS) an organization that represents the interest in the extractive industry in Ireland.

I was employed on a full time contract as an environmental research scientist within a EU Brite Euram research and development project. In my initial position I encouraged participation by the company in R & D .
The company obtained funding by participating in a major international (R &D) project to develop an environmental management system for the European Extractive industry. This research project was one of the first projects in Ireland to utilize geographic information systems technology in developing environmental management and modelling systems for industry
