Southend United manager Phil Brown has been named the Sky Bet League 2 Manager of the Month for November.

Brown led the Blues through the entire month unbeaten, winning four of their five league matches as well as progressing in the FA Cup.

Former Charlton Athletic manager Alan Curbishley, who chairs the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel, said: "Phil Brown has made a very positive start to the season with Southend and an unbeaten month has moved his side into the automatic promotion places.

"In an incredibly tight Sky Bet League 2, Southend are one of five teams on 33 points in the division at the end of November."

Sky Sports' Football League pundit Don Goodman said: "Phil is using his considerable experience to lead a Southend promotion push out of Sky Bet League 2.

"Having moved from eighth to third in November, Phil will be keen to keep the momentum going long into the New Year."

Sky Bet Head of Football Paul Wiggins said: "A great November has seen Phil Brown's Blues move up the Sky Bet League 2 table and into third place.

"The former Hull and Preston manager will be looking to add another promotion to his CV this season."
