The Oscars

02.03.14
Kodak Theatre, Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, USA

Hollywood's annual tribute to the stars, directors and technicians that make the multi-billion dollar film industry tick is a worldwide television event.

But even if you're not the lucky holder of an invite to the awards ceremony or the even more exclusive Vanity Fair Oscar night party, you can still join the thousands of members of the public who flock to Hollywood Boulevard where you can watch the stars arriving for their red carpet moment outside Hollywood's Kodak Theatre. Or you may even be lucky enough to join the 400 or so lucky fans who win lottery tickets to sit on the 'bleachers' adjacent to the red carpet. If you want to try your luck register online (http://www.oscars.org/awards/academyawards/bleachers/index.html) in September 2013.

The first movie stars start to arrive at about 4pm, and everyone is inside for the beginning of the show by 5.30pm.

If this all feels like too much hard work, why not enjoy a few days in Hollywood, soaking up the party atmosphere. Visit some historic film studios and you will be transported back to Hollywood's heyday: the Universal Studios theme park includes a tour through the studio's backlot and the famous Paramount Studios are still in the heart of Hollywood.
