An Ethan Hawke-toplined staging of “Ivanov” and a production of “The Caucasian Chalk Circle” with a score by Duncan Sheik will fill out the 2012-13 season at Off Broadway’s Classic Stage Company.

Hawke will be something of an Off Broadway regular during the coming season, with the thesp also set to direct and star in new play “Clive” for the New Group. At CSC he’ll star in an Austin Pendleton-helmed production of Chekhov’s 1887 play “Ivanov,” about a melancholy government official conflicted over financial and marital concerns. The show, slotted for a run that begins in October, will be the latest in CSC’s series of Chekhov revivals, the most recent of which, “The Cherry Orchard,” earned stellar notices for the troupe last year.

“Caucasian Chalk Circle,” directed by CSC a.d. Brian Kulick, has booked an April run. Sheik (“Spring Awakening”) provides the score for Bertolt Brecht’s 1948 epic fable, a play with music about a lowly maid who rescues the child of a government official.

The two shows join a CSC slate that already includes a February staging of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s “Passion,” to be helmed by John Doyle (“Sweeney Todd”) and starring Judy Kuhn and Melissa Errico.

Exact dates and further details for the upcoming season remain to be announced.
