Shrewsbury sign up two of their trialists

Shrewsbury Town manager Micky Mellon has made a double swoop today by snapping up trialists Andy Robinson and Jordan Clark.

Both have landed deals for next season with Robinson released by Tranmere Rovers this summer, while Clark was let go by Barnsley.

It came following their club's relegation from League One and the Championship respectively and they now step down a level with Town.

The duo impressed Mellon while on trial with the club and were today signed up by Shrewsbury for the new League Two campaign.

Robinson, 34, made his name with Swansea City, scoring 44 goals in nearly 200 games for the Welsh club. He has also played for Leeds United.

Clark, who worked under Mellon when he was assistant manager at Barnsley last season, played six first-team games for the Tykes, after making his Championship debut at home to QPR in April 2011.

The 21-year-old, who has also had loan spells with Chesterfield, Scunthorpe and Hyde, has signed a one-year deal.
