Dunkin' Donuts employee in Pasco accused of giving food away, stealing leftovers

NEW PORT RICHEY — A Dunkin' Donuts employee is accused of giving customers free food and coffee and stealing leftover doughnuts, sandwiches and cheese at night, some of which he gave to cab drivers in exchange for rides home.

Raphael A. Morales, 31, was arrested Wednesday and charged with grand theft. According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, Morales stole and gave away more than $300 in goods within a three-day period in July.

Morales told investigators he offered "valued customers" free coffee and buy one, get one free doughnuts because "it is a good way to keep customers coming back," according to a report.

A manager at the 5421 Little Road shop told the Sheriff's Office that all unsold items must be thrown away at the end of the evening. But Morales told authorities he took these extra food items home for his infant and wife.

"Raphael stated he was unaware that the goods he took and gave away totaled over $300 in just three days," the report states.

Morales, of 12035 Proctor Loop in New Port Richey, is being held at the Land O'Lakes jail in lieu of $2,000 bail.
