The Balcony

At the heart of any Royal Wedding day is the couple's appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to greet the crowds - and kiss.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge appeared on the balcony at 1.25pm and, when Catherine saw the huge crowds, she exclamied 'Oh wow!'. The couple were soon joined by their bridesmaids, pageboys, best man and families. After much encouraging chanting by the crowds, the newlyweds kissed twice.

Shortly afterwards there was a RAF fly-past. First, a Lancaster, a Spitfire and a Hurricane aircraft from The Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight; then came two Tornado and two Typhoon fast jets, flying in Windsor Formation.
