Sarah Burton, OBE

Designer

Since starting out as an intern at Alexander McQueen in 1996 when it was based in a tiny London studio, Sarah Burton has had one incredible career. She progressed swiftly to become Head of Womenswear in 2000 and McQueen’s own aide until his death in 2010 when she took over the role of creative director. Burton is perhaps most well-known for landing one of the most coveted fashion commissions when in April 2011 she designed Catherine Middleton’s wedding dress for her wedding to Prince William. During her time, Burton has designed pieces for Lady Gaga, Michelle Obama and Gwyneth Paltrow, and in 2014, she won the British Fashion Awards Red Carpet Designer award.
