In-Store

Conventional wedding lists are based at a major department store or shop.

Traditionally, the items chosen are for the bride and groom's home.

Usually, the bride and groom visit the store and choose items for their wedding gift list.

Guests buy a present by visiting the store, by phone or online - in advance of the wedding.

The couple may be required to top-up the wedding list if more is bought than expected.

If the guest chooses an item that has become out of stock or discontinued, it is usually replaced with gift vouchers to an equivalent value, or the couple are asked to choose something else.

Stores are usually very flexible with the couple. They will give them a chance to review the final selection of bought gifts, and change things if they have changed their minds.

If the present is bought in store and is a small size, some guests like to take it along to the wedding.

The majority, if not all, of the gifts are delivered to the couple's home at a pre-arranged date and time once they are back from honeymoon.
