Choosing a Bridal Hairstyle

When choosing a wedding hairstyle, the bride should think about her hair type, face shape, the line of her dress and the veil or headpiece. The more intricate the dress, the simpler the hair should be, and vice versa.

There are three basic styles to consider: leaving it down, an 'up do' or half-up-half-down.

Softer styles, with some loose pieces framing the face, often look flattering but hair must not fall into the eyes or fall forward inconveniently onto the face.

Some brides choose to incorporate bridal hair accessories - beads, pearls or crystals - into their hair.

Hair flowers, supplied by the florist on a wire, are a simple and elegant wedding hair accessory.

The bride is advised not to experiment with a new style or colour for at least three months before the wedding.

The bride must not wash her hair on the day if it is being put up as certain styles and slides may not hold.
