Lovebox was born in 2002, the brainchild of DJs Groove Armada, and began as a residency at 93 Feet East on Brick Lane. A one-day outdoor event was staged on Clapham Common in 2003 and again in 2004 when it doubled in size and sold out within three days. It moved to Victoria Park in 2005 and spread itself over two days.
Though it began as predominantly a dance music festival, Lovebox has since expanded to include indie, rock, world and pop acts. Spectators can also enjoy circus, cabert and fringe performers. 2015 headliners include Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill and Hot Chip.
