BUCHAREST, June 29 Floods and torrential rains have killed 21 people in eastern Romania in the past week, the government's emergency committee said on Tuesday.
Most of the victims drowned when they were swept away by high waters, while two people were struck by lighting.
About 300 people have been evacuated, the committee's spokesman Alin Maghiar told Reuters by telephone.
At least 24 people were killed and tens of thousands forced to evacuate their homes after heavy rains in May and early June triggered floods in southern and central Poland. (Reporting by Ioana Patran; Editing by Alison Williams)
