Steven Knight

Screenwriter and Director

British screenwriter and director Steven Knight has been responsible for a number of well-known dramas during his time in the industry, most recently popular BBC historical series Peaky Blinders. Knight wrote and directed 13 episodes of the well-received comedy series The Detectives between 1993 and 1997 at the start of his television career, before going on to be one third of the team behind the creation of smash hit quiz show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Knight made his feature debut in 2002 with crime thriller Dirty Pretty Things earning him both a BAFTA and an Academy Award nomination. His third feature-length script, Eastern Promises, also received BAFTA and Oscar nominations. Knight has recently begun directing his own scripts, making his directorial debut with 2013’s Hummingbird followed by Tom Hardy vehicle Locke in the same year.
