Sir Michael Hintze

Philanthropist

Since moving from Australia to London and launching his own hedge fund, Sir Michael Hintze has translated his success into many philanthropic interests and ventures having set up the Hintze Family Charitable Foundation in 2005 with his wife Dorothy. Since its creation, over 200 charities have benefited from the foundation and Hintze has become one of the UK’s most notable philanthropists. Amongst his many donations, 2014 saw him give £5 million to the Natural History Museum, the biggest single gift in its history. In recognition of their charitable contributions in support of the arts, Hintze and his wife received the Prince of Wales Medal for Arts Philanthropy in 2009, and in 2013 he received a knighthood in recognition of his substantial charitable contributions to UK arts.
