FLUVANNA COUNTY, Va (WVIR) -

After a frost destroyed most of its peach crop, a family owned orchard in Fluvanna County is open for business as the owners find ways to get back on their feet.

When frost struck in early April, Terry Lintecum and his wife Barbara lost 95 percent of their peach crop at Fruit Hill Orchard. In order to make sure they had enough to sell this summer, they had to borrow peaches from a sister orchard in Winchester.

Barbara said she's just happy to have produce available.

“It's discouraging, but we have a wonderful crop of peaches available and that's really what matters. This little orchard got hit hard, but our bigger orchard is very better,” Barbara Lintecum said.

Fruit Hill Orchard currently has plenty of pre-picked peaches available. In addition, they sell apples, fresh honey, jams, and vegetables from their garden.

While the orchard has been open since Thursday, they will have a grand opening for the season on Saturday, July 30.

Fruit Hill Orchard is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Saturday.
