“Hairspray Live” may have been the least popular of NBC’s four live musicals to date, but it still rated a good deal better than the network’s average Wednesday night this season. Combined with the network’s two primetime NFL games and the “This Is Us” fall finale, it helped NBC to a dominant week.
The Peacock’s 2.9 rating in adults 18-49 was more than double the 1.4 for second-place FOX, and it had a lead of almost 3 million viewers over CBS (10.61 million vs. 7.76 million). “This Is Us” was the top non-sports show in adults 18-49 (2.8), and the network had at least half the Top 10 in both adults 18-49 and viewers.
“NCIS” was the top non-NFL program in viewers, clocking in with 14.69 million people.
