Ford’s marketing at its best, the Capri concept emulated the Mustangs personalisation options, allowing the owner to make their car unique. Released in 1969, the car also influenced other manufacturers to add a reasonably priced coupe to their range. The Capri was offered in a variety of engines but always in the same bodyshell. By the time Ford axed the RWD capri in 1987, the coupe had been largely supplanted by FWD hot hatches.
