On tonight’s Weekly Filibuster, Libertarian Party political director Sean Haugh revealed that the Libertarian Party of Kentucky is dissociating itself from Sonny Landham. He explained that the LPKY needed to wait until today to find out the ramifications for dissociating itself from Landham for the purpose of getting Barr/Root and LPKY on the ballot, since he was listed on the petition.
The Secretary of State told them today that they could go ahead and file the petition, and then dissociate themselves from Sonny, who would then run as an independent rather than as a Libertarian. In response to my question whether the LP would continue to get signatures for Landham, I was told that the LP there has all the signatures they need and is just sorting and filing them. Presumably, both Barr and Landham have a comfortable enough margin to assure that they will both be on the ballot. At this time, the show is still on and taking callers.
2008 is NOT the most important election in US History, or [starting with January 1.2000] the most important Presidential election in the new millennium. 2000 holds that sorry honor!

Show’s done. I called in again in response to Landham’s suggestion that those who disagree with him are anti-semitic. I pointed out that Arabs are semites, which makes Landham more anti-semitic – in terms of sheer numbers – than Adolf Hitler.

The Libertarian Party of Kentucky dumped Sonny Landham as its candidate for the U.S. Senate on Monday, one week after the former actor made several anti-Arab remarks.
In a nine-to-nothing vote, the party decided to withdraw its support of Landham. This means the party will not have a candidate in the November election.
Last week, Landham publicly remarked that Arabs should not be allowed to travel to the United States. He said Arabs should not be in America’s schools, and he said the United States should have bombed Saudi Arabia, Syria, and other Arab nations.
In a statement, the state party said it stands for tolerance of all people, regardless of race, creed, sex, and national origin.
Off on one point Donald, the millennium started in 2001.

Any who, technically a 1000 year period can begin and end in any 1000 year period. That’s why I entoned ‘starting with January 1, 2000’ ‘ I wanted to include the November 2000 disaster.

Dr Rand Paul is available…
Kinda late for that. They would have to do a separate petition by August 12 with 5,000 valid signatures. Neither LP national nor LPKY has the spare cash to make that happen even if Dr. Paul is in fact available, and I’m not aware of anyone asking him. If he’s available, he would have to self-finance, and pay pretty well when there is such a short deadline and so many different projects going on at the same time.
If Ron Paul’s devoted following were to raise enough money, do you think they could get Rand on the ballot?
I was wondering how I was going to spin this jackasses’ remarks. Thankfully his remarks didn’t make the MSM in Ohio. I don’t know if they made it into the Palestinian/arabic/muslim community newspapers. Probably did.
Now any LP candidate that wants to pander to arab or Muslim voters can point to this action on the part of the LPKY as evidence of our empathy.
I know I will later this week when I go to the rather large Palestinian community here.

Considering that the money still has to be raised *and* the signatures gathered from scratch, good luck. It’s not impossible, but it would be expensive and logistically difficult. You would probably have to hire a petition company, and pay an extra premium on top of the street price.
So, did anyone actually ask Rand Paul, or are we just assuming he is available?
