Gay icon and star singer Lily Allen announced she is to perform in Scotland, launching her tour in Glasgow at the the O2 Academy on 22 of November, and closing it in style at the prestigious Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Concert, on the 31 of December.
Lily, who has been touring extensively all summer including playing the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury, has just finished a short US tour with Miley Cyrus. Lily will return to the US in September/October for a lengthy headline tour. She plays V Festival this weekend.
Her current album “Sheezus” entered the chart at No1 and has currently spawned three top 10 singles. Her new single “As Long As I Got You”, features an amazing video shot at Glastonbury Festival.
Lily Allen recently delighted party goes at G-A-Y with a performance that included a steamy routine to Beyonce’s Drunk In Love.
The star previously performed in G-A-Y dressed up Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and as Britney Spears.
She also voiced her support for LGBTI equality and confessed to lesbian experiences in an interview with GT magazine.
“I just feel you have no right to hate anyone because of how they’re born,” she said. “I think if you’re a human being with a heart in your chest, you’re the same as everyone else. I’ve grown up around gay people, black people, adulterers, drug addicts, and I don’t treat anyone differently.”
Lilly, who identifies as straight, said she previously had a lesbian experience: “I did once snog identical twins in San Diego. I was on the sofa and I had them both. I was dancing on one of them. That’s the only time, but I have lesbian dreams a lot.”
Tickets for the November/December shows go on sale on Friday August 22 at 9am (10am for Edinburgh).
