Nagoya-based company XING, one of the largest karaoke chains in Japan, today announced the top 50 rankings for the most popular karaoke songs in the period from 1992 to 2019, mostly covering the Heisei period. It launched its online karaoke on demand service JOYSOUND in 1992 and is now offering more than 293,000 songs, which is the karaoke industry's largest lineup.

According to their research, the most popular song in the Heisei period was "Zankoku na Tenshi no Thesis/A Cruel Angel's Thesis," the OP theme for the 1995-1996 TV anime Neon Genesis Evangelion. As reported several times, the song has dominated the karaoke chain's anime/tokusatsu/game song ranking for years.
