Rounds of heavy rain from the remnant of former Hurricane Sergio soaked parts of the southern Plains in mid-October.

Sergio made landfall in Mexico's Baja Peninsula on October 13, after which its remnant moisture and spin pushed into New Mexico and Texas.
Some flash flooding was reported in the Midland-Odessa and San Angelo, Texas early Saturday morning. Saturday night and early Sunday, at least 14 water rescues were performed in Bryan and College Station, Texas, as a band of heavy rain stalled.
This moisture and energy have also produced at least a few tornadoes in Texas.
One was an EF0 tornado the town of Brady in McCulloch County, uprooting a tree, producing roof damage. Another displayed a debris signature on Doppler radar in Hill County near the towns of Hillsboro and Bynum, Texas.
Others were sighted on Interstate 45 near the town of Angus in Navarro County and north-northwest of Buffalo in Freestone County. Power flashes were sighted, and trees were downed from an apparent tornado in the Rusk County town of Henderson, Texas.
On Oct. 3, Sergio became the eighth Category 4 hurricane of the 2018 eastern Pacific hurricane season, topping a previous record of seven Category 4 hurricanes in an eastern Pacific season set in 2015, according to Eric Blake, tropical scientist at the National Hurricane Center.
